The reason we earn what we earn is a result of our conditioning. The reason you have what you have right now is mostly due to past behaviors and thoughts, past experiences and past emotions. Are you at a point in life where if feels like everybody else seems to lead successful lives but you own life sucks and you are not getting any younger. You have 15 years left to retirement and no money in the bank. The clock is ticking. Well, I have good news for you. It is not too late. Change is possible but in order for your life to change, you have to change.
Maybe you have been living so long with a “can’t afford” it mentality that you have gotten used to not desire anything. Or maybe you have lived in a relationship where lies and broken promises were a part of the daily routine so trying to plan for a future became impossible, not to mention having big dreams and setting goals. That would have seemed pointless and just a waste of time and you stopped doing it for fear of disappointment. At least, that is what I did.
So what can we do to create a change, to move our lives to the next level? How many times have you had the intention to change, lose weight, start the gym, learn how to start an online business online or something else that you wanted to do, only to find yourself back in the same place where you started six months later? Why is that?
I know that for me when I started studying personal development, which is about 10 years ago, the common knowledge was that it takes about 21 to 30 days to change a habit so that is how most programs and courses were created in those days. And many still are today.
What I have learned now, studying neuroscience, the study on how the brain works, is that it takes from 66 – 200 days to create a new habit. No wonder then, when trying to make a change for 30 days and nothing seemed to work, made me feel like a failure. When I learned that it takes at least 10 weeks to create a new habit I felt relieved. It meant that it was not my fault that I had failed so many times.
That is when I started to believe it was possible to change if you had access to the right tools and strategies, support and last but not least, the right mindset.
I want to share here what has inspired and motivated me not to give up. To take that next step, to start believing in yourself. I hope my journey will inspire you to take action. I am writing this in the weekend following Thanksgiving and even though this is an American holiday, the essence of gratitude has spilled over through the posts I have read from my friends on Facebook the last few days and in the same spirit of gratitude towards all who have shared their greatness with me, I want to share my knowledge on these pages in hope of inspiring, at least, one person to change his or her life. If I can, so can you!
